Cane Bay Elementary school has just began construction. The school will serve 700 students ad is scheduled for completion in August of 2009. The school wail cost the county 19.8 million dollars.
A middle school is also being planned for the area, but no funds are allotted for the middle school as of yet. All the land, 160 acres, was donated by Cane Bay developer Ben Gramling III for the schools.
Cane Bay High School, the 70 million dollar school, is set to open next fall with 9th and 10th grade classes. Each following year the school will add a grade until they reach the 1,500 capacity. The school has 98,000 square feet with room for expansion. Cane Bay High School is in Berkeley County in new community of Cane Bay Plantation. Cane Bay High School's mascot will be the Cobras and in true Summerville style, athletics will be a huge part of the school.
